LYNNWOOD -- Sisters Dreanna and Kayanna Jackson were a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line late in the game which was ultimately the difference in Edmonds 57-55 win over Bellevue.
In the opening quarter both teams came out cold, but the Triton defense produced three steals and led 10-7. Natalie Brown grabbed 6 rebounds in the first stanza. The Bulldogs tied the game up at 14-14 after sinking a three, but Edmonds responded with a 11-6 run and took a 25-20 lead into the half.
Bellevue's 10-0 run to start the fourth quarter erased an eight-point Triton advantage. From that point forward it was a seesaw affair. Jada Walters picked up her fourth foul at the end of the third quarter which limited her minutes - she finished with 7 points and 9 boards. For a stretch of time the Tritons and Bulldogs traded three-point conversions. The Bulldogs picked up their fifth team foul at the 1:52 mark, setting the stage for the seven points from the charity stripe that iced the win. Dreanna Jackson scored 15 points and Keira Slippern poured in 13.
Edmonds (11-6, 5-1) extends their win streak to four games. During the streak their average margin of victory is two points. Next up is a trip across the sound to face Olympic (7-11, 1-4) in Bremerton on Wednesday, January 31. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
