SHORELINE -- Triton women's basketball came out from tipoff and set the tone with defensive intensity which helped them to a 19-9 advantage after the first quarter, and a 36-19 lead at halftime. In the first half, the Dolphins shot 20% from the floor. Edmonds (8-6, 2-1) won the battle on the boards in that first stanza, and held a 26-15 edge on the glass.
Shoreline (11-5, 2-1) made a furious comeback in the fourth quarter, and cut the deficit to just two points at 62-60 with just over one minute remaining, but Maggie Salas responded with a basket on the other end. A defensive stop with just 13 seconds left sealed the 64-62 win. Jada Walters was the game's top scorer with 19 points; she also grabbed 14 rebounds.
Another pivotal matchup is ahead when Skagit Valley (7-9, 1-1) comes to Seaview Gym on Saturday at 2 p.m.
