Triton men's hoops nearly pulls off the stunner, but falls just short

PASCO -- It looked like the South Puget Sound Clippers were going to run away from the Tritons on Saturday night, but Edmonds methodically fought and clawed their way back in it. In the first half, some timely three pointers by Nick Linhardt and Sam Lockhart stalled the Clippers momentum as they carried a 35-27 advantage into the locker room. With 5:15 remaining in the contest the Clipper lead reached 19. That's when Edmonds went on a 24-6 run to flip the game on its head. Edmonds was gifted an opportunity during the rally when the Clippers called a timeout when they did not have any left -- Sam Lockhart knocked down two free throws, and the Tritons had come within one point (74-73), but South Puget Sound connected on six free throws from the charity stripe to ice the game. The Clippers went on to defeat Portland and have clinched a spot in the Final Four.

Naser Motley scored 20 points (15 in the second stanza), Josiah Pierre contributed 18, and Sam Lockhart chipped in 11 points.

The 2024-25 season was another successful campaign under longtime head coach Kyle Gray and his staff. Since his arrival in 2012-13 the program has been a model of consistency qualifying for the postseason and moving players on to continue their careers at four-year schools, and for some, professional basketball overseas. This year's squad finished the season with a 19-11 mark.
