LYNNWOOD -- Wednesday night's tilt in Seaview Gym saw Edmonds and Everett slug it out, but the Tritons prevailed in the end, 67-57.
Edmonds ran out to a fast start and led 13-2 just six minutes in. As expected Everett responded with a 22-10 run and pulled ahead for the first time in the game with 5:15 remaining in the half. For the majority of the contest it was a defensive battle as both teams struggled to find a rhythm.
Nick Linhardt had some tough buckets in the paint with most of his damage happening in the first half; he scored 15 points. Josiah Pierre contributed 13 points and 7 rebounds and Orion (OJ) Dybdahl added 12. Down the stretch Naser Motley hit some key shots and cleaned up at the free throw line (6-of-6) to lift the Tritons to victory. The sophomore guard posted 18 points.
Edmonds (1-0, 11-5) will now head to Port Angeles to face the Peninsula Pirates (0-1, 6-8) on Saturday. That game tips off at 4 p.m.
