EC men's hoops readies for NWAC Championship opener Wednesday night
March Madness begins on Wednesday, March 6 when Edmonds College men's basketball starts their quest for an NWAC Championship in Pasco, WA. The North Region champions will face Lane CC, the 4-seed from the South Region, at 6 p.m. in the single elimination tournament. Edmonds (21-9, 11-3) saw Lane (13-15, 8-8) in non-region action way back on November 19 at Umpqua CC in the third game of the season. The Tritons took the win in that one, 92-79, although both teams look significantly different almost four months later. Lane did not find out they had qualified for the tournament until Saturday as a logjam in the South Region standings was sorted out after Linn-Benton defeated Clackamas just two days ago.
Edmonds took home some hardware in the North Region awards that were announced at the end of the NWAC Championship Preview Show on Sunday night. Sopohomre Trevon Hamilton was named to the All-Defensive team, Josiah Pierre was tabbed to the 2nd-Team All-Region, and Chris Lee was a 1st-Team selection and the region's Most Valuable Player (unanimous). Coach Kyle Gray was also awarded North Region Coach of the Year honors for the second time in his career.
We hope to see Triton Nation in Pasco! The Tournament is being held at Columbia Basin College.
