Bio

Spencer Stark was hired as Edmonds College Athletic Director on April 1, 2017 and serves as the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Men’s Commissioner.

Stark’s duties include providing administrative direction and oversight for all intercollegiate programs at Edmonds College as well as the intramural programs, facilities and activities. He's responsible for ensuring compliance with NWAC, federal, divisional and college athletics regulations, administering departmental funds and accounts in a fiscally responsible manner and sustaining a culture of sportsmanship, inclusion, professionalism and respect at all levels.

“I would like to thank Jorge de la Torre and Christina Castorena for this incredible opportunity to lead Triton Athletics," Stark said. "I’m very passionate about the holistic development of our student-athletes, and I’m excited to continue to work with our outstanding coaching staff. We are going to work hard every day to create the best student-athlete experience in the NWAC and positively represent our College and community. Our teams will compete with class."

Stark brings many years of experience to the athletic director position. He played baseball for two years at Olympic College before transferring to play at York College (Nebraska). He earned his bachelor’s degree in business management there and later earned a master’s degree in sports administration at Concordia University Irvine. Stark coached summer select baseball for four years, and one year at Burlington-Edison High School before he returned to OC as an assistant baseball coach and served as the athletic specialist / recreation director for four years. He was also involved in semi-pro and collegiate summer leagues as a coach and administrator. Stark worked at Edmonds for nearly five years as the associate athletic director where he oversaw game management, rentals, student-employment, facilities upkeep, and scheduling.

“Spencer is a great fit as the Athletic Director at Edmonds College,” said Jorge de la Torre, Dean for Student Life and Development and former Athletic Director. “Spencer has an extensive background in athletics and in the community college system. He is dedicated to serving our students, our College and the community. I am looking forward to working with Spencer in his new role and I believe he will take athletics at Edmonds College to a new level of success.”

Since 2017 he has been the North Region baseball and softball commissioner, and in 2021 took over responsibiltiies as the NWAC Softball Chair. Stark now oversees all external rentals across campus, the college's bookstore, campus vending services, office spaces in the Triton Court residence hall, and will serve as the college's director of auxiliary services. Under his leadership the athletic department has increased scholarship money for all programs, fundraising revenue overall, men's and women's cross country programs were added, there have been updates to Seaview Gym, academic success rates have steadily increased, and the sustainability of Triton Field has been secured.

In 2019, working with the associated students of Edmonds College, the Triton Field Fee was passed by the college's board of trustees. In 2022 a new contract was negotiated with Nike/BSN to be the official apparel provider of Triton Athletics. In 2023 the Indoor Hitting Facility was returfed with new pitching mounds and an improved lighting system, a new external athletics website was launched, and Gary Chupik was added to the athletics staff as sports performance/mental mindset coach as a consultant. The Triton Field pitching mound was turfed and the facility received new windscreen and padding in the Spring of 2024. At the end of the 2023-24 academic year, the executive board of associated students gave Stark an Honorary Triton Administrator Award. Prior to the beginning of the 2025-26 athletic season new turf was replaced on Triton Field ($1.3 million dollar project), the first base baseball dugout was lowered as part of a spectator improvement project, and the Seaview Gym hardwood saw a complete makeover, rebranding, and refinishing. The college also became the first in the NWAC to sign a contract with FanWord, a content creation platform to publicize athletics. Prior to the spring of 2026 new outdoor Hudl cameras will be installed for baseball and softball, joining the Hudl cameras already in place off the Indoor Hitting Facility for soccer, and inside the gym for volleyball and basketball.

Stark lives in Edmonds with his wife Abby and daughters Elliot and Lucille.
